Silva Cup

The Silva Cup Golf Tournament was held in 2008 to support the activities of S.R.T. Inc. a tax-exempt community service organization.

The Silva Cup is in honor of the late Essie and Roderick Silva, educators and recreation leaders. Roderick Silva was a high school basketball coach and sports official in Florida. Essie Silva was a recreation leader, Urban League Guild National President, community activist and hostess of Black Involvement a TV talk show in Miami. Essie Silva is the mother of the founder of S.R.T. Inc.

Each year of the tournament, S.R.T. Inc. will honor African Americans that have worked as Sports Officials locally and nationally and have contributed to the betterment of our youth. Raymond “Twitt” Williams, our first honoree was selected because of his outstanding service to the community and his commitment to youth.  He is an example of what S.R.T. Inc. stands for: service, respect and training.

Tweet Williams is a well-known educator and sports official locally and nationally. His training at Clark College and New York University laid the foundation for his future in athletics and administration. His leadership as an Atlanta school principal covers elementary, middle and senior high schools. He has been an athletic director and coach at high schools and universities including Northside, Turner, Douglas high schools and Clark Atlanta Univ. He has served as football and basketball official in the Big South conference, Mid-Eastern Conference and Gulf South Conference. He is a member of the National Association of Sports Officials, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Saint Paul of the Cross Catholic Church and numerous education and community organizations.

He has provided community service as a consultant and board member of sports, educational and community organizations including West End Girls Club. He has been recognized by many organizations including the C.C. George Foundation, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Clark Atlanta Univ. and the Atlanta Tip-off Club.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will assist in strengthening the infrastructure of S.R.T. Inc. as well as provide funding for community service activities. The funds in 2008 were used to hire a Part-Time Youth Volunteer Coordinator.
